[Photos] French Colonial Navy Button Found with Garrett ACE 250

This variation is 17mm and made of brass. The pattern is most likely of an 'Enlisted Man' in the French Navy.

This was dug in Central New Jersey near an old colonial foundation. Other French relics were also found at the site.

This appears to be a turret-style shank - unfortunately the shank was not in-tact.

It might be “just a button” to some because it’s not gold jewelry or a bottle full of old coins but this find is great IMHO. I can just picture a sailor wearing these shiny brassy buttons on his uniform. Oh, the stories that button could tell….. 🙂
